halloweenOnce in a while, I am in the mood to sit at my computer and hit the "Stumble!" button for my reading leisure. In case you're wondering what I'm talking about, it is a plugin called Stumble Upon for Firefox web browser. It is great, but dangerous in that you could waste a lot of time with it on the web. The fruit of the Spirit is self-control, ....

Anyhow, I "stumbled" upon this article about Halloween. It is a good read and challenges some of us (including myself) in a way that we're perhaps not used to. The author is correct in his/her observation that it's the only day of the year when your neighbors let down their guard and are willing to chat with you even if they don't know you (I realize this probably only applies to USA).

GChemPaintI am planning on writing a review on different 2D chemical structure editor (CSE) programs that are available to Linux (there is one comprehensive article on this, but it's a bit outdated). In the mean time, I want to say that most of them have made tremendous progress in the last year or so. Big thanks to all the developers!

Governator (Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California) just signed the California legislature SB777 this past Friday. It is a law that prohibits use of words that are considered discriminatory against LGBT (lesbian gay bisexual and transgender) people, such as mother, father, husband, and wife.
