Huckabee v. McCain
With all the distortions and prejudice in the media (especially major TV networks and newspapers that many people rely on as their only sources of information), it is often best to make a judgment based on facts and unfiltered information. I present to you the speeches made by Gov. Huckabee and Sen. McCain and see for yourself what these two candidacies represent. The answer as to who is the true conservative between the two should be fairly obvious. Read the rest of this entry »

Here at Taksuyama.com, we do not like to get political and would like to stay focused on Biblical matters and occasionally Linux and science issues. However, the US presidential election at hand seems so important that we couldn't help but to say something. So here it is.

No to McCain Yes to Huckabee OK with Romney Maybe Paul Better Clinton than McCain No to Obama
Namely: No to McCain, Yes to Huckabee, OK with Romney
Note: the size of each picture represents how much we want to emphasize
ie, our 1st choice is Huckabee, 2nd Romney, 3rd Paul, 4th Clinton, 5th Obama, 6th McCain
In simple terms, ANYBODY but McCAIN! Read the rest of this entry »

ChristmasWhen this time of the year comes around, I am filled with sweet and bitter emotions. It is not because I've had good and bad Christmas experiences in the past, but because of my reflection on the day (or what it symbolizes, the birth of Christ).
In the history of the chosen people, Israelites, the hand of God was seen time after time. There was no one group of people that had been more loved by the Creator Himself than the children of Israel. Despite Israelites' failure to recognize His love, the Lord loved them unconditionally and passionately. However, all of God's great works were done by His invisible hands. No one could have told you what to picture in your mind when you thinking of God. Yes, the Lord had tried to reveal Himself intimately to Israelites, but they fled from His presence because of their sins. Very few got to understand the heart and character of the Creator. The situation was even worse for Gentiles. It was extremely difficult for them to get to know the Holy One.

But one day, everything changed. Read the rest of this entry »

Surveillance Cameras'Tis the season for traveling to places in addition to celebrating the birth of the Lord Jesus. As we live in a rough neighborhood, safety of our apartment during trips always has been a concern to us. This year, we will have additional security measure in our household: webcam surveillance system! For those of you who are planning on breaking into our home, give it a second thought, better yet, repent! :)
As you read this article, you may think we're way too paranoid or something, but I think it's kind of a fun project even if you're not paranoid about it. I had fun with it :) This system will detect any motion in the room and take pictures and email them to you (also will transfer the files to a remote SSH server for safe-keeping).
There are 5 steps to this process. Let's begin! Read the rest of this entry »

Did you know? 2.0

YouTube "Did you know? 2.0"

Wow. This video is amazing. It is amazing how much shift can take place. At work, I can see this as well. I see that more and more scientific papers are coming out of countries we thought of as 3rd world countries. This, in and of itself, is good, but I worry about where the USA is going. I love the country and hate to see it decline just like all of the past superpowers became insignificant.
Among the evangelicals, this may be a cliche, but here it is: woe to us when we as a nation abandon the Lord. When and if we cry out to Him, He will stretch His hand to help us.

I have been contemplating on doing a post on this topic for a while. Then I remembered I had bookmarked this article a while ago. This author explains my position on the "controversy" of evolution vs creation so eloquently that for now, I feel no need to write my own article. However, there are some more technical and theological points I'd like to explore in mine when I get around to writing it. So stay tuned. Most likely it will be a series of different articles:

  1. Gene shufflings and modifications occur, but not "evolution" of an entirely new gene + the meaning of the word "evolution"
  2. Why should I (Christian) believe in creation? Would God help me to believe?
  3. The danger of wearing glasses (well, metaphorically) when you read the Bible or when you study science
  4. Quotes from the American evolutionists' poster child: Steven J. Gould
  5. Age of the universe: when you put Einstein into the equation; concepts that traditional naturalists and atheists never knew
  6. Different flavors of persecution from the world: then it was cannibalism and now it's anti-rationalism!
  7. And more....

But for now (and later too), I highly recommend the article I mentioned earlier. Praise God for such an articulate believer in His name!

Ubuntu 7.10 As an Ubuntu user, I am faced with the task of installing a new OS every 6 months. I know I can do the upgrade through the Update Manager, but I always prefer the fresh install. I've done this process so many times now for the new Ubuntu versions and also to switch to different distros. To make this process easier, I've written a simple bash script to automate parts of the process. I figured somebody else might benefit from this. Also I wanted to keep the script here so I won't lose it :) Read the rest of this entry »

Amazing GraceHave you ever heard the story behind the very popular hymn "Amazing Grace"? I had heard the story behind the hymn "How Great Thou Art" "It Is Well with My Soul" by Horatio Spafford, but that was about it. (In a nut shell that story is about a man who lost his entire family in a ship wreck and after hearing the news wrote the hymn "How Great Thou Art" "It Is Well with My Soul" - a wonderful example of the grace of God working in a man's life.)

But this song, "Amazing Grace" is also very interesting. A man named John Newton who lived in England during the late 18th-century was a slave trader. Read the rest of this entry »

On GodTube.com, I saw some harsh criticism of this preacher's video. However, when I saw the clip, I saw the power of God's word, Read the rest of this entry »

Temple Restored
2nd TempleThe temple in Jerusalem was first built by King Solomon. After it was destroyed by the Babylonians, the restoration of the temple was led by Zerubbabel and others. This task of restoration was accomplished by people who were just set free from captivity in an enemy state. What a feat! How did they do it? The book of Ezra gives us an insight into how this monumental task was achieved; by unity. The conquered and weakened people had one common goal and one common hope; restoration of the temple of the LORD.

Now we ask "what about us?" What do we get to do together in the New testament? Apostle Paul shows us the hope and the goal that we Christians must have today. For the rest of the story, please listen to this podcast.

One Lord, One hope, One people, One calling... Temple Restored.
